Biking is for EveryBODY

We provide social connection and joy through accessible outdoor biking experiences.

Celebrate with us 4/30/2026

Portland Wheelers, Mandi Weirdmore, and Nomads Adventure & Active Wear are proud to celebrate the retail launch of their creative collaboration promoting inclusive outdoor recreation.

Join us for a special event at Nomads Adventure & Active Wear, 100 Commercial Street in Portland on Thursday, April 30 at 5:30 pm.
“Biking is for everyBODY” supports the work of Portland Wheelers while recognizing the many ways people can share in the activity of cycling. As an artist living with a disability, Weirdmore’s design offers an authentic celebration of inclusive outdoor recreation.

The community is invited to celebrate the campaign at a meet-the-artist event at Nomads. Attendees can shop the limited-edition gear, meet Mandi Weirdmore, and see the trike Portland Wheelers uses to bring social connection and joy to the community.

Wear the mission. Fuel the joy.

This design by Maine artist, Mandi Weirdmore, is our “visual manifesto” for a world where nobody is left on the sidelines. Whether a person is pedaling with their legs, their arms, or enjoying a ride as a passenger, their physical presence on the road or trail is a celebration.

Biking is for EveryBODY honors every age, every ability, and every physical form that finds joy on two (or three!) wheels.

Connection is a human right.

We know that outdoor recreation isn’t just a “nice to have”—it is essential for a happy and healthy life. For many, particularly seniors and people with disabilities, the world can become smaller over time.

We exist to expand it.

Access to the outdoors and meaningful social connection are foundational to well-being. Our rides break down the barriers of isolation, replacing them with the sensory thrill of the ride and the warmth of community. When you snag your swag, you aren’t just buying a shirt; you are advocating for the right of EveryBODY to feel the wind in their hair.

Meet the artist.

Mandi Weirdmore is a local disabled Maine artist. She sells her designs, stickers, and other merchandise on her website:

Using her platform, she raises awareness about rare disorders and disability rights.

About Biking is for EveryBODY, Mandi says, “This piece represents the connection that comes with biking and the disability community. We may all have different needs, but together we are at peace.”

Meet our community partner.

It specializes in functional, stylish, and sustainable apparel for travel, yoga, and outdoor activities, featuring brands like Patagonia, Prana, Kuhl, and Toad & Co. Nomads carries both men’s and women’s activewear, as well as bags, packs, and accessories to outfit you for your next adventure. Nomads carefully curates brands to ensure that they are high-quality, eco-friendly, and socially conscious. They also love to support local, offering 20+ local and independent business brands and are a member of Maine Outdoor Brands and a sponsor for Portland Wheelers.

Nomads owner, Hannah Wolken, shares, “To me, biking is one of the best ways to get outside and see the world around you- whether it’s exploring the woods, playing in the snow, or winding down small roads to explore the countryside. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to explore the world in this way- regardless of their gender, body, or capability.”

At the center of this design is a classic symbol of peace, reimagined as our community in motion. The dashes connect a diverse family of cycles representing the idea that when we move together, we create a more harmonious, inclusive Portland. Join us in that vision by proudly (and stylishly) declaring that Biking is for EveryBODY!

Special thanks to Victor Rios for his continued partnership, guidance, and printing.
