What We Do

What We Do

Portland Wheelers provides experiences for people unable to ride a bike by themselves. Our program gets people outdoors for therapeutic recreation, socialization, and adventure.

Our rides are always free.

We work with over forty ride partners; residential facilities such as assisted living, memory care, nursing, and rehabilitation centers, as well as schools and day programs.

Our Come To Us program is designed for individuals who may be living at home or not at one of our ride partner facilities or schools. We encourage these individuals to come to us for rides at designated ride locations.

Our program uses a fleet of special electric-assist tricycles that provide a safe and comfortable ride. Rides are always group rides, out in our communities, on the trails and streets of greater Portland.

As a small volunteer-led organization, it is important that we provide meaningful volunteer opportunities to our community. Our on-bike volunteers interact on a personal level with our wheelers and fellow volunteers. They spend their volunteer shifts outdoors riding on streets and trails throughout the community.

We share our experience and consult with other groups interested in providing similar services to their community. We are excited to share our knowledge and offer assistance.thirty

Who We Serve

We provide free rides on specially adapted tricycles for people who cannot ride a bike but would love to go for a ride.

How We Do It

We use custom built electric-assist trikes on the trails and streets of Greater Portland.
