Portland Wheelers is hiring a part-time trike transporter
We provide social connection and joy through adapted outdoor biking experiences. We serve individuals of all ages who, for any reason, are unable to ride a bike on their own but still benefit from the time spent outdoors recreating with others.
This part-time transporter will work approximately 10-15 hours per week, with hours between 8 am & 4:30 pm. The transporter prepares and drives our electric van to bring our trikes to ride sites around Greater Portland. The position is primarily Fridays, with other shifts possible depending on our weekly needs and your availability. We are looking for someone with a flexible schedule who’d like to spend the summer outdoors having fun and meeting amazing members of the community.
Responsibilities:
Ability to interact appropriately and compassionately with people of all ages and abilities.
Ability to build and maintain good working relationships through strong communication skills with volunteers throughout the day.
Superior time management skills.
Ability to gather and submit data using your smartphone.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Skills Required :
Valid Maine drivers license and personal vehicle insurance
Proof of clean driving history (no accidents or speeding violations in the past five years)
Be at least 21 years old with good driving experience, per insurance requirements
Comfortable working with and leading a team of volunteers in the loading and unloading of trikes to and from the van using a ramp.
While not a requirement, being comfortable on a bike can make this work even more rewarding and joyful!
