Who We Are
About Portland Wheelers
Overview
Our Mission: Outdoor Adapted Biking Fun!
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2015. A volunteer-led nonprofit organization with a small and incredibly mighty staff.
Our wheelers are the people we serve – the ones we love to see smile! Wheelers are individuals who cannot ride a bike themselves but would love to go for a bike ride.
Our volunteers are the heart of Portland Wheelers. Volunteer pilots pedal our trikes, engage with our wheelers and share with them the experience of our community on three wheels. They bring miles of smiles to our wheelers.
Our Board of Directors are also volunteers, they steer the organization towards a sustainable future, providing foresight, oversight, and insight.
Our Program Manager oversees daily operations, working with seasonal staff, coordinating volunteers, interacting with ride partners and supporting the entire Portland Wheelers community.
Our Program Coordinator supports the organization’s back office work and is often the voice you will hear when you call.
Our seasonal staff transports our trikes to ride sites, assists at ride sites and helps with other administrative tasks.
Our ride partners are the organizations and facilities we serve: assisted living centers, schools, day care programs, memory care units, nursing homes, rehabilitation units, and other congregate living locations.
Our “Come To Us” community are families and friends with wheelers living at home or not at one of our ride partner locations. They come to us at pre-arranged locations for trike rides.
Our sponsors and donors provide the financial support necessary to pay our modest expenses so that we can keep rolling.
Wheelers, volunteers, ride partners, families and friends, sponsors and donors; we are the community that is Portland Wheelers.
